Gareth Dyke

Gareth Dyke has a PhD in Geology and worked for 25 years as an academic paleontologist publishing more than 380 peer reviewed papers. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Taylor and Francis journal Historical Biology for 20 years. Now working in publishing as a consultant, he has extensive experience at the interface between publishing and academia, building connections between researchers and publishing solutions. He has worked with Charlesworth, TopEdit, Edanz, and Springer Nature (Research Square Content Director) and is now helping to make peer review more equitable w/ ReviewerCredits, building the growth publisher Bentham Science, and a consultant with Mavericks.

Mert Köse is an academic publishing professional and a lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University’s media communication department. With over five years of experience in open-access publishing, he has a deep understanding of various aspects of the publishing industry. Mert had the opportunity to work for Frontiers in the department of M&A from 2022 to 2023, further enriching his diverse background. He has previously worked as a Research & Development manager at Turkey’s largest publishing house, Galenos, where he played a pivotal role in establishing their dominance in the Turkish academic journal market. Mert possesses full command of index applications, journal management, and academic guidelines, ensuring the quality and integrity of scholarly publications.

 

 

Will Awad

Will is an experienced professional with a background in Academic Publishing, Information Technology, and Publishing Services. As a passionate Accessibility Advocate, he excels in creating inclusive, equitable, and accessible digital spaces. Will’s expertise lies in devising and executing comprehensive digital accessibility strategies, ensuring products meet stringent compliance standards, and fostering collaboration among diverse teams. He possesses deep technical knowledge in WCAG, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the European Accessibility Act (EAA), making him a sought-after speaker and panelist at various international conferences on accessibility compliance in both the EU and the US.

Carlos Valiente

Carlos Valiente has a degree in information sciences and more than ten years of experience in scholarly publishing. His research areas are bibliometrics, academic publishing, and scientific communication. His research has been published in high-impact journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. He founded the Iberoamerican Journal of Science Measurement and Communication (Scopus-indexed), a scientific journal oriented to research communication and evaluation studies. He has headed various publishers’ departments and provides consultancy regarding editorial policies, peer review processes, scientific publishing strategies, and metrics assessment at the author, journal, and article levels.
